Safire was at the Toulouse air museum "AEROSCOPIA" on 12 and 13 october for the French national event "la Fête de la Science 2019".
Exchanges were rich and numerous with the visitors of the museum, kids or adults, aviation enthusiasts or simply curious. They were all surprised to discover an aspect of aviation, unknown to the general public: airborne research. Safire offered two animations:
- In front of the Merlin 4 - the Météo-France's Meteorological Aviation Center's historical research aircraft which has been exposed to the museum since its creation - presentation of various chemistry, cloud microphysics and basic measurement systems.
- "Speed searching", a game of question and answer. Participants were permitted to ask 5 questions in ten minutes, trying to discover the use and principle of a mystery object. The "Droplet Prode Cloud" (CDP-2) and the dropsondes were thus the pretext for lively discussions.
Given the success of the operation, this first collaboration is expected to be continued ...
